FAQGENERAL INFORMATIONWhat are the official dates of the National Tornado Summit?The official dates of the National Tornado Summit are: Sunday, March 10 through Tuesday, March 12, 2013. The opening reception starts on Sunday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m. Some events do begin before the official start of the summit, including but not limited to, the Weather Fair and exhibitor move in. Please check the schedule for up-to-date information. Where is National Tornado Summit located? The National Tornado Summit is being held at the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. What is the Dress Code? Attire is business casual. Feel free to be comfortable in slacks, polo shirts, sweaters, blazers, blouses and most importantly, comfortable shoes. We do recommend you dress in layers as temperatures in meeting rooms can vary. *Please note: spring temperature in Oklahoma City in early March is typically mild. The average low is 41 with an average high of 63. Is there accessibility for persons with disabilities at the Cox Convention Center? The National Tornado Summit and the Cox Convention Center’s goal is to meet every attendee’s need. For people with disabilities, that means providing a fully accessible environment. The Cox Convention Center complies with the regulations set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Will child care be provided while I’m attending the summit? The National Tornado Summit does not provide child care services during the Summit. Attendees requiring assistance with child care should contact the hotel concierge. I am bringing my family with me to Oklahoma City. Will there be activities for them to enjoy? The National Tornado Summit does not have scheduled events for your family or friends that come Oklahoma City with you. Additional guest tickets to the Twister Mixer are available at registration. Please note that guests must be 21 years of age or older. REGISTRATIONHow can I register for National Tornado Summit?The National Tornado Summit official Website provides Internet registration 24 hours a day, seven days a week. How do I know if I'm registered? All attendees will receive a confirmation by email. This confirmation is your receipt and verifies your registration information. If you have questions, please call 405.604.0041. What is included in my registration fee? A full conference registration includes all educational general and breakout sessions; tradeshow activities and breaks; Weather Fair Reception on Sunday; Twister Mixer on Monday; breakfast on Monday and Tuesday; and lunch on Monday and Tuesday. How will I receive my badge? When you arrive at the National Tornado Summit and check in at a registration counter, you will receive your badge. I have a question or problem regarding my registration. Call: 405.604.0041 or email pam@factor110.com. What if I need to cancel my registration? Full refunds, less a $50 cancellation fee will be honored for all cancellations received, in writing, by March 1, 2013. Absolutely no refunds will be made for cancellations received after that date. Send cancellations to pam@factor110.com. If you fail cancel your registration by March 1 and/or no show to the event, you are responsible for payment in full. What if I need to send someone else in my place? Attendees may transfer registrations but may be charged an additional fee depending on registration type. To make a hotel reservation, click on the link below and enter the arrival and departure dates needed. The group code will already be entered, which will pull the correct rates. The discounted room rate is available until Friday, February 8, 2013. How do I make a hotel reservation? Guests may also make reservations via the toll-free number at 800.468.3571. When making reservations by phone, please mention the National Tornado Summit to receive the group rate. How far is the hotel from the convention center? The Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel is located across the street from the Cox Convention Center and is connected via a skybridge. What is the closest airport to the National Tornado Summit? Will Rogers World Airport – Oklahoma City (OKC) it is located approximately 15 minutes away from the Cox Convention Center. EDUCATIONWhat should I do if the session I would like to attend is full?The National Tornado Summit suggests that you get to the assigned meeting room at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the session to obtain a seat. You should also note the top two sessions you want to attend during a particular time slot, then you will have a back-up should a session fills up. Please note that all session rooms are set to help foster a creative learning environment and are set to the maximum number of seats allowed per the Fire Marshal. Why does my name badge need to be scanned prior to entering a session? We scan all attendees entering sessions for multiple reasons. First, we record how many attendees are in each session for help with content planning for the future. Second, we scan to provide attendees with their list of sessions attended as well as Continuing Education Units (CEU) achieved from attending sessions at the National Tornado Summit. Your name badge will be scanned by an educational assistant as you enter the room. What is the maximum number of CEU's I can receive at the National Tornado Summit? All of the sessions at the National Tornado Summit will provide CEUs and contact hours. The maximum amount of CEU's/contact hours you can receive is 10. |
